Spinach Gratin

Here’s the perfect side dish for your Holiday menu.

This Spinach Gratin is an amazing twist on classic Creamed Spinach… creamy Béchamel…delicious Gruyere…Panko for crunch 🙂

Ingredients:

For Gratin:

  • 3 16 oz. bags chopped Spinach
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted Butter
  • 2 med Yellow Onions…chopped
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Gruyere Cheese…grated
  • 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. Kosher Salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 Black Pepper
  • pinch of Cayenne

For Panko Topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups Panko
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted Butter
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Heat Milk to a simmer…
  • In a separate pan…large enough to hold Spinach…Melt Butter
  • Add Onions to Butter and cook until translucent..not browned..about 10 mins.
  • Stir in Flour…cook another 2 mins.
  • Stir in hot Milk…whisk until thickened.
  • Add Nutmeg & Cayenne…remove from heat.
  • Stir in Gruyere…Season with Salt & Pepper.
  • Add Spinach & mix well
  • Pour Spinach Mixture into baking dish
  • Melt Butter for Panko topping.
  • Once Butter is melted..add Panko & Salt to pan.
  • Stir until lightly toasted.
  • Cover Spinach evenly with Panko topping and Bake 30-35 minutes.
  • Serve & Enjoy!! 🙂
