Slow-Cooker Five-Spice Pork with Snap Peas

Get out your Crock Pot…This simple Sweet & Spicy Pork is delicious!!


  • 1/2 cup Shaoxing (Chinese rice wine).. dry Sherry..Sake for a sweeter taste
  • 1/2 cup low sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Asian Chili Sauce…like Sriracha
  • 2 large cloves Garlic… minced
  • 1 tsp. grated fresh Ginger
  • 1 tsp. Chinese Five Spice
  • 2 lb. boneless pork shoulder or Butt.. trimmed… cut into 1-inch pieces.
  • Freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 lb. Sugar Snap Peas…fresh or frozen… trimmed
  • 1 tbsp. Oil…for browning Pork


  • Combine Shaoxing..Soy Sauce..Brown Sugar..Chili Sauce..Garlic..Ginger.. Five Spice..Water in Crock Pot
  • Heat Oil in skillet over medium high heat.
  • Lightly Pepper Pork and brown in Oil.
  • Add Pork to Crock Pot… stir to coat Pork with sauce.
  • Cover…Cook until Pork is fork tender..4 – 5 hours on HIGH… 6 – 7 hours on LOW
  • Add Sugar Snap Peas… cook about another 10 minutes…until crisp tender.
  • Serve & Enjoy!!
